Transit Services for Arizona Roles and Responsibilities

Stakeholder	Role and Responsibility
ADOT	Maintain Statewide ITS Architecture for Transit Services.
	Coordinate and manage state transit regulations and state transit funding programs.
	Gather information from Statewide Transit Service agencies in the state of Arizona to update and maintain the Statewide ITS Architecture for Transit services every 3–5 years.
Arizona Cities and Towns	Operate transit center
	Disseminate bus location and arrival information, as appropriate, to Information Srrvice Providers and the general public.
	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
	Secure, monitor, maintain, and control all field equipment
	Collect and send passenger counts to transit center.
Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS)	As appropriate, coordinate and manage requests for transit assets for incident and emergency management activities.
	Respond to mayday transit emergency requests.
Arizona MPOs and COGs	Maintain vehicle location system
	Receive calls for transit – serve as a regional transit call center
	Respond to calls for transit – regional transit call center
	Schedule and dispatch fixed route and paratransit vehicles.
	Receive bus location and occupancy information from vehicle location system.
	Maintain Transit Center software and systems
Financial Institutions	Collect and send passenger counts to transit center.
	Accept and process payment of fees for transit fares
	Accept and process payment of fees for parking.
Independent School Districts	As appropriate, respond to, coordinate, and manage requests for transit assets for incident and emergency management activities.
	Participate in regional transit and transportation planning issues.
Media	Provide support from the media for traffic and incident data.
	Provide broadcast traveler information.
	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
Private Information Service Providers	Provide customized information on travel times, transit routes, weather conditions and road closures.
	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
Public and Private Transit Providers	Schedule and dispatch fixed route and paratransit vehicles.
	Operate and maintain security sensors in areas such as transit stops, transit stations, rest areas, park and ride lots, modal interchange facilities, on�board a transit vehicle, etc.
	Secure, monitor, maintain, and control all field equipment
	Issue requests for traffic signal priority (where applicable).
	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
	Maintain and service transit and paratransit vehicles.
	Participate in regional and state transit and transportation planning issues.
