Transit Services for Arizona Roles and Responsibilities

ADOT	Maintain Statewide ITS Architecture for Transit Services.
	Gather information from Statewide Transit Service agencies in the state of Arizona to update and maintain the Statewide ITS Architecture for Transit services every 3-5 years.
Arizona Cities and Towns	Operate transit center
	Receive bus location and occupancy information from vehicle location system.
	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
	Provide buses for the public during evacuation and re-entry.
	Provide buses for the public during evacuation and re-entry.
	Receive requests and dispatch buses in response to emergency transport requests from public safety and emergency response agencies.
Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS)	Respond to mayday transit emergency requests.
	Participate in regional transit and transportation planning issues.
Arizona MPOs and COGs	Receive calls for transit - serve as a regional transit call center
	Respond to calls for transit - regional transit call center
	Schedule and dispatch fixed route and paratransit vehicles.
	Maintain vehicle location system
	Receive bus location and occupancy information from vehicle location system.
	Maintain Transit Center software and systems
Financial Institutions	Collect and send passenger counts to transit center.
	Accept and process payment of fees for transit fares
	Collect, analyze, store and process information regarding emergency notification findings.
Independent School Districts	Participate in regional transit and transportation planning issues.
Media	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
	Provide broadcast traveler information.
	Provide support from the media for traffic and incident data.
Private Information Service Providers	Provide customized information on travel times, transit routes, weather conditions and road closures.
	Collect, process, store and disseminate transit routes and schedules and fares.
Public and Private Transit Providers	Maintain vehicle location system.
	Maintain passenger counts.
	Send bus status and location information to transit center for next bus arrival.
	Receive bus location and occupancy information from vehicle location system.
	Collect and send passenger counts to transit center.

	Maintain and service transit and paratransit vehicles.
