25. DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST
Establish new project
26. JUSTIFICATION
The purpose of this project is to remove 2 old Truck Escape Ramp monitoring systems that are not working and are currently located at MP 1.8 and 5.7 along SR68. Replace these systems with state of the art solar systems complete with pre warning flashers and remote connections to TOC. When trucks use these ramps, there is no notification to travelers that the ramps are occupied. TOC is not notified and the safety of first responders becomes compromised. The systems will be purchased through Procurement and installed by ADOT forces under statewide ITS supervision with help from Northwest traffic operations. ICAP is included in this request.
