| 26. JUSTIFICATION |
| The original project limits overlap the widening project happening in the same area. This affects the congestion patterns in the area, and the DMS that we were going to use are being replaced. While this new location also overlaps with an upcoming project (F0660), we talked with its project team, and the existing DMS are to remain through the project. There are also more signs prior to the work zone that can be utilized for queues starting at the work zone. Change project limits to be on I-10 between Sun Valley Pkwy (MP 110) and Verrado Way (MP 120). Change project name to "Sun Valley Pkwy - Verrado Way DMS Back of Queue Warnings" |

| Other locations around Phoenix and Tucson were considered, but those that had more desired traffic patterns lacked infrastructure and or were also affected by construction projects. |

| This project will upgrade the integration between INRIX probe data and ADOT`s Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) central control software to automatically post DMS messages that notify drivers of back of queue conditions ahead. This work will be done through ITG and/or the existing vendors for the DMS central control software. Developer = $80K Staff (ITG/STG) = $30K Misc = $47K |
