25. DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST
Increase budget
26. JUSTIFICATION
The project was under estimated. There are a total of four rest areas. Three of the four rest areas have two sites and one rest area has one site, at a total of seven sites. Reason for Increase: 1. EB & WB Parks and NB & SB Christensen, were originally planned to be repurposed without expansion. After the conclusion of the Statewide Truck Parking Plan the four sites were identified to be repurposed and expanded. 2. The estimates were based on gravel parking lots. Multiple washes run through and near the Haviland RA making the site susceptible to erosion. Gravel lots can be prone to erosion and rutting, which can lead to more frequent maintenance. A more resilient surface material is required to prevent erosion. 3. Mobilization and traffic control were calculated per rest area than per site. ICAP is included in this request.

The project was under estimated. There are a total of four rest areas. Three of the four rest areas have two sites and one rest area has one site, at a total of seven sites. Reason for Increase: 1. EB&WB Parks and NB&SB Christensen, were originally planned to be repurposed without expansion. After the conclusion of the Statewide Truck Parking Plan the four sites were identified to be repurposed and expanded. 2. Some items, such as mobilization and traffic control, were estimated for each rest area, not for each site. 3. Locations are far apart and remote, driving up the cost to construct. 4. Surface material options estimated are not suited for certain conditions. For instance, gravel is not suited for snow because it cannot be snow plowed. ICAP is included in this request.
