Funds are needed to improve plans by making them more efficient and revising specifications to provide more flexibility to allow construction in multiple shifts. | The project will be re-advertised with improved plans that are more efficient and revised specifications which provide more flexibility to allow construction in multiple shifts. The updated construction estimate reflects the year of expenditure, revised maintenance of traffic costs, and impacts of rise of fuel costs for this remote project location. This bridge is co-maintained by the City of Needles. The Construction IGA is 20-00007812-I. The Design IGA is 18-00006762-I. Contingent upon funding from the City of Needles. |

| The project was programmed based on the Pre-Scoping Letter cost estimate which was calculated using underestimated unit prices per square foot of bridge. In addition, the programming estimate did not include contingency for unknown items, ICAP, construction engineering and adjustment for year of expenditure. The updated construction estimate for the year of expenditure is based on the Stage III design estimate. This bridge is co-maintained by the City of Needles. The Construction IGA is 20-00007812-I. The Design IGA is 18-00006762-I. ICAP is included in the request. Contingent upon PPAC approval, this will be included in the FY22-FY26 Five Year Program. |

| The existing deck has an inspection classification of (poor) and is rated structurally deficient. Deck exhibits map cracking throughout (generally 3/32" width). Some bearing pads have failed. Both bridge ends are unseated from bearings causing a 1.5" step down from approach roadway. Recommendations include construction of approach slabs, deck mill and overlay, bearing replacement, and updating guardrail to meet MASH standards. Construction Project will be placed in FY22.
